The company is not conceived to promote any particular religious or esoteric spiritual beliefs, but aims to develop a deeper understanding of how the imagination might access realms of creative and human understanding beyond the obvious limits of rational consciousness, and therefore rational belief systems.
The company is committed to exploring an expansive canvas of 'belief' from which to draw inspiration and develop artistic theatrical work. At a time when dramatic narratives are often driven by psychological fear in the forms of: crime; political subterfuge; espionage, terrorism, sexual predators and dysfunctional relationships; it is believed there is space for more inspirational, challenging and archetypal stories developing a deeper expression of human behaviour, human beliefs and human relationships.
These ideas are to be practically developed through a variety of training and improvisational practices within a safe and respectful working context. Theatre Of Angels aims to legitimate the right to experiment, and even fail, within its ensemble practice, script development processes and production rehearsals. This approach is intended to enhance final production standards and expand both theatrical aesthetics and audience responses by embracing risk. The company is also developing a creative evaluation process by collaborating and challenging working practices within a supportive network of creative associates and professional colleagues. In this way Theatre Of Angels is committed to a deeply human ensemble practice which serves the work and those involved in its creation.
Angels are often regarded in mythology as occupying a realm between humankind and the gods. Theatre Of Angels is about naming and opening a doorway to aspirational artistic visions inspired by spiritually inclined imaginations.
